Viking Baseball

The Siuslaw Viking baseball team has begun the season 6-1 with the win on Saturday against Coquille.  The Vikings trailed 2-1 after 5 ½ innings. In the bottom of the 6th inning Jordan Pitcher hit a fly ball to the outfield with runners on second and third.  Max Reynolds tagged up at third and brough home the tying run.  After a steal to third a passed ball made the difference for the Viks. As Eaden Mead jumped at the opportunity

“and that ball way high, back to the screen here he comes, gonna have to flip it he does he got him – oh he dropped the ball, now he touches the plate.”

Final Score 3-2 vikings.  Noah Dotson gets the win for the viks with a complete game. Next up for the Viks is La Pine tomorrow with a 4:30 first pitch and a 4:15 game time on KCST.

Viking softball will also host La Pine tomorrow at 4:30.

College Baseball

After a Friday rainout the OSU Beavers had to wait until Saturday for their chance at the Washington Huskies.  That set the day up for a double header with the Beavers taking the first game 6-3 and the second 5-1, Sunday was a different story as the Huskies refused to go 3 and out, holding the Beavers to just 2 runs and scoring 7 on 11 hits.

The Oregon Ducks had a stellar outing in the desert taking all three games from the wildcats 15-3, 13-11, and 8-5.

The Ducks and the Beavers will meet for three this Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Eugene.
