Track and Field

Over the weekend senior Track and field athlete Kyle Hughes won his heat in the 2 mile and posting the number three all time run for Siuslaw High School.  Hughes then competed in the Pole Vault where he set another personal record best of 14’11” taking the 4th place spot out of 34 participants.  The team overall posted several personal records over the two day tournament in Eugene competing with 160 schools from all divisions.

Beavers Drop Rubber Game

The heat didn’t stop the Beavers from hitting home runs or scoring high numbers, but it didn’t stop the sun Devils either.  After winning the opening game on Friday 13-11, the beavers let the next two games slip away holding leads in both games.  The beavers let a 6-2 lead vanish on Saturday to lose 11-7 and led 5-0 in yesterday’s game before a 6 run inning the ASU in the bottom of the third inning.  The Beavers came back in the top of the 5th to score 5 more with help from a Travis Bazzana grand slam to take a 10-6 lead, but the Sun Devils showed no quit and fought back with 6 runs over the next three innings to take the rubber game 12-10.  The Beavers remain in Arizona to take on Grand Canyon College today.

Ducks Take Cal Series

The Oregon Ducks took two of three from the Cal Bears over the weekend finishing up with a 9-3 victory yesterday in Berkeley.  The Ducks finished with a 4 run 9th inning that started of with a Nishida solo homer followed by a pair of singles and a double driving in three runs.  The Ducks will now come home to host a pair of games against Gonzaga on Tuesday and Wednesday.
