Viking Double-Header
The Siuslaw Vikings dominated Harrisburg in game one of their double-header on Friday. The Vikings put up 13 runs in the first inning working into the third rotation of their batting lineup. Andrew Jensen-Norman went 5 innings in the shortened game facing only 18 batters with 6k’s. Max Reynolds went 4 for 4 hitting, scoring two runs and two rbi’s. Eaden Mead was 2 for 2 with 4 RBI’s. The Vikings scored 5 more runs in the bottom of the second inning and one more in the 4th for a 19-0 win.
Game two was a tense one for the Vikings falling behind 6-1 after two innings. The Vikings scored two in the bottom of the third but allowed two more from Harrisburg in the top of the 4th. It came down to the bottom of the 7th inning with the teams knotted up a 9 apiece. With Victor Ayala at the plate and Andrew Jensen-Norman on third Ayala laid down a bunt on a squeeze play to bring home the winning run. 10-9.
Max Reynolds went 1 for three in game two and extended his hitting streak to 14 games.
The Viking girls’ softball team dropped both their games to Harrisburg, 10-0 and 11-0.
Elmira Mapleton Softball took two games from sisters on Friday 19-8 and 19-7.
Central Coast Invitational
At Friday’s Central Coast Invitational Hunter Petterson took the 200 meter race and the 400 meter race. Kale Jensen posted a second place finish in the 400 with a PR. Sam Ulrich took the top spot in the 800 meter race followed by Jacob Blankenship and Dylan Jensen in second and third. Siuslaw dominated the 1500 meters with 4 Vikings in succession: Ulrich, Kyle Hughes, Jacob Blankenship and Braydon Linton. Braydon also won the 3000 meter followed by his brother Camden. Noel Hernandez won the 110 and 300 meter hurdles scoring a PR in the 110. Vikings also won the 4×100 relay and the 4×400 relay. Jonathan Rose won the shot put with 42’4” he also won the discus and placed second in the javelin. Kyle Hughes won the Pole Vault at 14’ freshman will Johnson came in second in the long jump and the triple jump.
For the ladies it was Ava Borgnino in the 200 meters with a pr of 29.65. Maya Wells took the 800 followed by three of her teammates: Corduroy Holbrook, Alison Hughes and Adylin Holbrook. Maya also won the 1500 meter race. Corduroy Holbrook won the 3000 meter with a pr of 11:31.28 followed by Addison McNeil, Macy McNeill and Abigail Jones for Siuslaw. Freshman Danin Lacouture won the shotput with a 30’7” toss and freshman Keira Johnson won the pole vault with a pr of 7’10”
College Baseball
The Oregon Ducks took two of three from the Sun Devils in Eugene over the weekend dropping yesterday’s game 9-6.
The Oregon State Beavers swept the Arizona Wildcats finishing off the series with a come from behind win after trailing 10-8 in the bottom of the Ninth the Beavers drove in three runs for the 11-10 victory.
