Pot Store Armed Robbery

The Florence Police department is looking for any leads on an armed robbery that was committed at the Florence Bud’s 4 U location at 1480 Rhododendron Drive.  The robbery occurred on Friday at approximately 9:07 pm when a lone white male dressed in black and wearing a mask brandished a gun.  The suspect left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cast and Florence police are hoping that someone in the city may know about the incident or may have seen something during Friday evening that may be suspicious.  Anyone with information can contact Sgt Bailey at 997-3514.

Ballots Mailed

Ballots for the May 16th Special District Election were mailed out late last week and some voters have already marked their ballots and have either dropped them in the drop box outside the Florence Justice Center or put them in the mail.  Before you seal that ballot in the envelope, make sure you turn it over.  Many ballots in Western Lane County have candidates for school boards, fire districts, and more on one side with the Sheriff’s Public Safety Levy on the reverse.  Elections officials also want to make sure you sign the back of the return envelope before dropping it off.  Voters have until May 16th to return their ballots.  The drop boxes will be open until 8 PM that day.  If you choose to mail it, a May 16th postmark will ensure it gets counted.

101 Accident

A head on crash between a motorcycle and a minivan on Saturday closed highway 101 for a about an hour and a half as police and rescue secured the scene.  The incident happened about 5 miles south of Yachats just south of Cape Perpetua.  Around 1 pm a motorcycle crossed the yellow line on a curve and hit the minivan sending pieces of the motorcycle into the east side ditch.  Yachats rescue took the rider to Yachats at the Adobe parking lot where he was airlifted to Good Samaritan in Corvallis.
