Rhody Parking

In  less than two weeks the city of Florence will be inundated with travelers from all over the state and beyond.  While the Rhododendron Festival brings much needed tourism to the area, it also becomes a parking nightmare for local residents.  Public parking will be at a premium with the Port Parking Lot filled with the Davis Family Carnival.  The City of Florence suggests using the Florence Events Center parking lot, and parking at 1150 bay street at the site of the old Lotus restaurant.  Thousands of visitors are expected to be in the area accounting for 100,000’s of thousands of dollars for local businesses.  The festival usually kicks off on Wednesday with the opening of the carnival attractions, but with the new date for the Rhody King and Queen coronation of May 13th, the city will be in the festive spirit earlier.
