COVID-19; Razor Clamming Opened

COVID-19

After a rise in cases earlier this year the Oregon Health Authority is reporting fewer cases of COVID-19.  Over the past several weeks the number of reported cases have declined.  The majority of the cases being reported are in the 65 and older population with significantly fewer numbers in all other age groups.  Test positivity is averaging 4.6%.  Last week 167 individuals statewide tested positive although not all tests are coming through the OHA’s website so exact numbers of COVID-19 cannot be determined.  The Oregon Health Authority has streamlined its reporting process and data is still available through their public portals that can be found by visiting Oregon.gov/oha.

Razor Clamming Opened

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has opened razor clamming for the North Jetty up to Seal Rock.  Recent shellfish samples have shown low levels of the toxin Demoic Acid for the past two weeks.  Razor clam limits are 15 per digger and each digger must have their own container, dig their own clams and can only have one limit while in the clam digging area.  Information on digging and on the toxin demoic acid is available at the Oregon department of Agriculture’s number 800-448-2474.

The City of Florence has no scheduled meeting for this week.  The Florence city council will meet next Monday for its first meeting in June.
