Coaching Change Coming
Siuslaw Athletic Director, Chris Johnson says at the end of the baseball season, Tom Shinn announced that he would be resigning from the coaching position with the baseball team. No fanfare or public notice went out at the time. Johnson says a notice will be going out later this summer posting the open position.
Mapleton Football
The Mapleton High School football schedule has been solidified. Athletic Director Carrie Dean sent out the announcement. The season will begin with the Alsea Jamboree on August 26th followed by an away game at Eddyville. The Sailors first home game will be against Siletz on September 8th.
Emeralds Attack Hops
The Eugene Emeralds took advantage of the struggling Hillsboro Hops last night firing in 13 runs and holding the Hops to a single run. The Ems did it with 12 hits and a pair of homers from first baseman Sean Roby. DH Matt Higgins also hit a solo home run. The series continues this evening from Hillsboro.
