Ems extend streak to 5. UO’s Lanning gets contract extension

Emeralds come out on top again.

The Emeralds posted 9 hits in a 5-2 Northwest League win yesterday over Spokane in Eugene.  The Ems went up two-nothing in the bottom of the first, added single runs in the 3rd, 4th and 5th, with the Indians putting up two in the top of the seventh.  It was another spotty day for a defense that committed two errors on the night.  The six game series continues through Sunday afternoon at PK Park.   In other games around the league it was Vancouver over Everett 6-4; and Hillsboro over Tri-City two-zip.

Oregon’s head FB Coach gets extension

The University of Oregon has extended its contract with head football coach Dan Lanning.  Athletics Director Rob Mullens announced Thursday that the agreement was approved by the UO Board of Trustees. It runs through the 2028 season and is intended to be funded through philanthropy.  Under the contract, Lanning’s base salary is $45 million over six years. He’s entering his second season at the UO.  There are incentives in the contract that will add an additional year if Oregon wins 10 games at any point of the contract with a max of three years added on.  Lanning would have to pay a $20 million buyout if he leaves for another job prior to the completion of the contract.
