Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Viking Soccer’s junior Charles Nelson as this week’s athlete of the week. Charles had 2 goals and an assist in Thursday’s 7-nothing win over Sutherlin. Hitting the net on one strike from 30 yards out. He exhibited great ball control and good defense according to Coach Londi Tomaro.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to Viking volleyball junior Jolee Erickson with 14 kills in the Viking’s defeat of Harrisburg. She added 6 of 8 perfect passes. Coach Ashlee Cole says Jolee performs better and better with every game.
Sports Schedule
JV and Varsity Volleyball will host La Pine this evening at 4:30 and Varsity at 6:30 at Glen Butler Court.
There will also be a Viking girls soccer game as the team travels to Sisters for a 6pm start.
Ems Close Out Season
The Eugene Emeralds finished off their season on Sunday with a 7-4 win against the Everett AquaSox. The Ems end their season with a 66-66 record and will not be in the Northwest League Playoffs.
Cross country begins for the Siuslaw Vikings this week at the Country Fair Classic near Veneta. The event will be on Thursday at 4pm.
