No High School Football for Mapleton

Mapleton School District has officially announced that they will not be proceeding with a High School football season this year.  Athletic Director for Mapleton, Carrie Dean said it was a group decision that included the members of the team.  The school had announced over the summer that it had hired former Siuslaw News reporter Zac Burtt as the teams new head coach.

Viking Volleyball Victorious

The Siuslaw Vikings volleyball team had a battle at home last night taking the La Pine Hawks to 5 sets.  The Vikings were able to pull out a victory in the 5th set after a 25-11, 20-25, 25-17 and 12-25 sets.  The 5th set was 16-14.  Rhianna Lane had 9 kills, 3 blocks and 6 serving aces in the victory.  Jolee Erickson had 8 kills and Ashley Hennessee had 5 kills.  The Vikings started their League play 2-0.  They host Creswell tomorrow evening at Glen Butler Court.

Viking Soccer

Siuslaw Girls soccer was at Sisters last night.  Sisters defeated the Vikings 6-0. They play at Elmira tomorrow.
