Elmira Topples Vikings

The Falcons muddied the race for the Mountain Valley Football Conference title Friday night with a 67-46 defeat of the Siuslaw Vikings in Elmira. The Viks scored first, on their very first possession, but the Falcons tied it at six-all on their first offensive play, then quickly scored again to take the lead. The Vikings regained the lead, 38-37, with one minute left in the third quarter, only for Elmira to regain it quickly, and hold on for the win. Will Johnson rushed 16 times for 90 yards and three touchdowns. Max Reynolds had 210 yards on 14 carries. Micah Blankenship was 4 for 12 passing for 76 yards and 1 interception.

The Sisters Outlaws remain the only unbeaten team in the conference at 4-0 with a 41-6 win over Creswell. Elmira and Siuslaw have matching 3-1 records. Siuslaw will host unbeaten and #4 ranked Banks this week in a non-league game before traveling to Sisters in two weeks.

OSU Over Cal

The Oregon State Beavers defeated Cal on Saturday 52-40. The Beavers return to Corvallis for their next game against UCLA on Saturday.  The Beavers are now 2-1 in Pac-12 play and 5-1 overall.

Viking Cross Country

Alison Hughes was the top finisher for the Viking Harriers girl’s team on Saturday finishing 25th out of 145 competitors.  For the boys it was Braydon Linton coming in 40th. Dylan Jensen followed in 43rd out of 184 competitors.
