The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate sophomore distance runner Alison Hughes as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Alison took first place in the Special District 4 Championship 5,000 meter race with a time of 19:54.49. Her win also helped propel the Viking girls team to a first place victory.
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention goes to another Viking harrier champion, senior Braydon Linton, who also took first place in the boy’s 5,000 meter run in the SD District 4 Championship with a time of 16:32.62 leading the boys to a district championship.
CFP Rankings
The College Football Playoff Rankings will be released this afternoon, and one outlet doesn’t feel that the 6th ranked Oregon Ducks will be in the mix. USA Today listed undefeated Washington as their 4th pick with Florida State and Texas to finish out the 5th and 6th place. Play over the next 5 weeks will adjust the standings if changes come in teams won/loss record with the final poll coming out on Tuesday November 28th.
