Viking vs Irish

The Siuslaw Viking Boys defeated Waldport on Friday evening 64-33.  Three players had double figures in the win.  Landon Curley led the Vikings with 16 followed by Chas Edbloom with 15 and Andrew Jensen-Norman had 13.  The Vikings were behind at the end of the first quarter 17-13, but got their defense rolling going on a 51-17 for the remainder of the game.

The Viking girls were also on the court with the Irish down only one at the half 19-18, but the Irish pulled ahead in the second to take the win 44-34.  Makayla Freeman had 15 for the Vikings and an outstanding defensive effort.

Ducks vs Syracuse

The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball team were stunned by the Syracuse Orangemen yesterday 83-63.  The Oregon State Beaver almost went into another overtime situation against the University of Texas San Antonio.  They managed to avoid it with Jordan Pope dropping two free throws in the final seconds of the game for the 66-65 win.

Ladies Hoops

The lady Ducks defeated UTSA 61-48 yesterday and the Beaver ladies defeated Santa Clara on Friday 80-52.

Viking Wrestling

The Viking wrestling team was on the mat on Friday and Saturday with the Viking girls finishing third overall out of 14 schools.  All four wrestlers placed with two taking the championship.  Macali Lade won the 110 pound weight class.  She was voted most outstanding wrestler of the tournament for the third week in a row.  Jane Lacouture was tops in the 170 pound weight class.

For the boys Dayne Muller took second place and Jacob Mann scored a third place finish.

The Mapleton Sailors will be on the court this evening against Columbia Christian.
