Vikings vs Harrisburg; Mapleton Improves to 11-2; New Viking Volleyball Coach Announced

The Siuslaw Viking boys basketball team was defeated by the #8 Harrisburg Eagles 44-37 last night at Glen Butler court.  The Vikings displayed good defense through the game but Harrisburg pushed past in the end. Poor shooting from the field hurt the Vikings with a lot of missed opportunities. The Siuslaw girls also lost to Harrisburg 58-13.

Mapleton Improves to 11-2

The Mapleton Sailors were on the court last night against the Alsea Wolverines.  It was no contest for the Sailors as the more than doubled their opponents score 60-27.  The Sailors led at the half 32-4.  Junior Alex Burnett continued his hot hand scoring 20 points for the Sailors.  Seniors Keevyn Walker and Tristan Stewart added 15 each.  Senior Dom Stewart led the defense with a team high in steals and rebounds. The Sailors improve to 11-2 and are 3-0 in league play.

The Lady Sailors had a squeaker getting by the wolverines 33-31 improving to 2-1 in league play.

New Viking Volleyball Coach Announced

The Siuslaw Vikings have named a new head Volleyball coach for the 2024 season. McKenzie Perry will head the program.  She has a long history with volleyball in Florence, Athletic Director Chris Johnson said in a statement.  Perry coached 7th and 8th grade volleyball from 2017 to 2021 at Siuslaw.
