Viking Basketball; Scheduling Changes; Viking Wrestlers

Viking Basketball

The Siuslaw Viking Boys Basketball team held their own in a back and forth battle on Saturday against La Pine.  In the final minutes the lead changed several times but in the end the Hawks came out victorious. 63-60.  Vikings had the ball with 2 seconds left but could not get the ball to drop.  Andrew Jensen Norman had 28 points for the Vikings.  The Viking girls were up next and scored 25 in the loss final 42-25.

Scheduling Changes

The recent winter storm caused a shake up in scheduling for the Vikings and for Mapleton basketball.  There will be a Viking boys and girls game this evening against Sisters with the pregame on KCST beginning at 5:45. The Mapleton Sailors were supposed to play on Saturday but that game was postponed.  The next up for the Sailors will be McKenzie on Wednesday.

Viking Wrestlers

Viking wrestlers were on the mat over the weekend. Macali Lade continues her dominance in the 115 pound weight class after a medical forfeit.  Abby Riggs finished second in the 120 pound weight class. Danin Lacouture finished first in the 135 pound weight class and Jane Lacouture finished second in the 155 pound weight class.  For the boys it was the Bay City Duals in Coos Bay over the weekend.  The Vikings finished in 7th place, but three boys stood out with sophomore Jacob Mann, junior Leo Robertson, and senior Derrick Vanduch each going 7-0 in competition.
