Heated Game for La Pine/Vikings

A pair of technical fouls on a frustrated La Pine player Friday night brought a little too much excitement to Glen Butler court.  At the end of the game with the Viking up six Chase Campbell was ejected after receiving two technical fouls.  Campbell’s father was not happy with the crowd response following the penalties and he was going to let them know it. Ryan Stahel with the call.

‘ah, now we got a parent on the floor and that’s definitely his dad, we might have a fight here on the court, this is not good.”

Police chief John Pitcher was a spectator and he and Siuslaw Athletic Director Chris Johnson intervened and averted a more serious altercation.  The Vikings took the victory 52-42.  On Saturday the Vikings faced Pleasant Hill and the Billies came out on top 74-43.  The Viking girls lost both their games falling to La Pine 41-27 and Pleasant Hill 57-15.  Both Teams will face Creswell tomorrow evening with the Girls at 6pm and the boys at 7:30 in Creswell.

Sailors Basketball

The Mapleton Sailors boy’s basketball team improved to 13-0 and cement their spot atop the Mountain West League.  They defeated Crow with a strong showing by freshman Roenin Barrows who scored 22 points to lead the sailors to victory.  Barrows drowned 4-3-pointers in the final quarter to give the Sailors a 50-35 Victory.  The Mapleton Girls also defeated Crow 45-20 led by Abbi Galvan-Mendez who scored 14 and had a double-double with 10 rebounds.  The two teams play Wednesday at home against Mohawk.

Viking Wrestling

Four Viking boy’s wrestlers will be headed to state championships. Jacob Mann, Dayne Muller, Derrick Vanduch and Leo Robertson will all represent Siuslaw in the State Championships.

College Hoops

The Washington State Cougars handed the Ducks their second home loss on Saturday coming in the Matthew Knight arena and winning 62-56.  The Oregon State Beavers lost to the Washington Huskies 67-55.
