Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior wrestler Abby Riggs as this week’s Athlete of the week. Abby qualified for the State Championships in Portland and this past weekend finished second in the 115 pound weight class in the special District 3A Championships.
Honorable Mention
Honorable Mention goes to junior Mapleton Basketball player Dom Stewart who was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Mountain West League.
Basketball Playoffs
The Mapleton Sailors host the Bonanza Antlers in state playoffs this evening. The Sailors have gone undefeated in League play this season and despite their record are ranked 20th by the OSAA. The Antlers are ranked 16th and are 10-3 in the Mountain Valley League. Bob Sneddon and Zac Burtt will call the game this evening on KCFM 104.1 and 103.1 in Mapleton beginning at 5:45. If Mapleton wins they will likely be heading to Crane, the number one ranked team in the state in 1A basketball. Crane will face Crow this evening at 6pm.
