Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club, the Siuslaw News and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior track and field’s Justin Allen as this week’s athlete of the week.  Justin scored several personal records in last week’s Siuslaw Icebreaker including the 110-meter hurdles, the High Jump, the Pole Vault and the triple jump.

Honorable Mention

Honorable Mention goes to Mapleton Track and Field’s sophomore Natalee Stevens with two personal record first place finishes in the 800 and 1500 meter races at last week’s Johnny Sundstrom Invitational.

Pole Vault Exhibition (UPDATE)

Tomorrow is the third annual Pole Vault exhibition on Bay Street.  The annual event is sponsored by Siuslaw High School and brings in competitors from across the state for an exciting demonstration of Pole Vaulting.  The event is weather permitting and could be stymied by potential bad weather in the forecast. The event will get underway at noon. EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO FORECAST WEATHER

Former Vikings Fair Well

Two former Siuslaw graduates have made headlines in track and field.  Gracie Freudenthal captured the 200 meters at the Oregon Tech Open in Klamath falls with a time of 27.59. freshman Jonathan Rose took first place in the Hammer throw with a distance of 31.19 meters.

College Baseball

The Oregon Ducks begin a three-game series against Seattle in Eugene tomorrow with a 5:05 first pitch,  the Oregon State Beavers are off until Thursday when they travel to Irvine California to face USC
