Ems Future; Bazzana Finalst

Ems Future

KVAL news recently reported that the Eugene Emeralds bid for a new stadium is basically dead in the water. Voters rejected a bid to fund the stadium that would have cost nearly $90,000,000.  After securing $15 million plus some federal funds the city of Eugene said they did not have the money to support the project.  According to the story the team is now in “aggressive conversations” with three new communities. Lane County Commissioner Pat Farr says he believes that the county will no be pursuing a new stadium. Ems general Manager Allan Benavides told KVAL news that the loss the community will feel and the vacuum it will create is what bums him most.

Bazzana Finalst

OSU power hitter Travis Bazzana has been named a finalist for the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award.  He joins Georgia’s Charlie Condon and Florida’s Jac Caglianone.  Bazzana set the Beaver’s single season record for home runs at 28 with 84 runs scored.  He ranks second in the nation for walks with 74 and a .575 on base percentage.  Bazzana is also the Pac-12 player of the year and currently holds a .415 batting average.  The Beavers begin their Super Regional games on Saturday.  KCFM will cover the games.  First up is a 2:30 pregame on Saturday with a 3pm first pitch against the university of Kentucky.
