New Cheer Coach For Siuslaw
The Siuslaw High School Cheer Squad has a new head coach. Athletic Director Chris Johnson announced this week that Brit Rainwater assumed the post Thursday. Rainwater has been a Florence resident for seven years and an active member of the “cheer community” for nearly two decades, including 15 years as a coach. Teri Straley, the previous coach, resigned earlier this year.
Baseball Playoffs
College baseball playoffs continue tomorrow for the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers are in Lexington Kentucky for the start of their 3 game series against the Wildcats of UK. Tomorrow’s game will air on KCFM beginning at 2:30 with a 3pm first pitch. The Oregon Ducks will have an earlier start from College Station Texas against Texas A&M. their game will start at 11am. Game two for the Beavers will be on Sunday at 5:30 with a 6pm first pitch. If a game 3 is needed it will be on Monday with a time yet to be determined.
More Honors for Bazzana
Travis Bazzana continues to receives honors from the college baseball world. The Beaver Slugger is a finalist for the Golden Spikes award and for the Dick Howser Trophy. Adley Rutschman was the last beaver to win the golden Spikes award in 2019.
