Viking Playoff Victory

Will Johnson started off the scoring Friday night with a 25-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter in Siuslaw’s 30-24 win over the visiting Dayton Pirates. The Pirates tied the score a few minutes later before Micah Blankenship connected with wide receiver Michael Felkins on a 35 yard touchdown pass to put the Vikings up 8 at the half. Blankenship, connected with Felkins twice more in the second half, the longest a 50 yarder with about a minute left in the third quarter. Dayton managed to score a final time midway through the fourth quarter but Siuslaw successfully held them a bay and held on for the win.
The Vikings will host the North Valley Knights this Friday in quarterfinal action. The Knights beat Sutherlin 35-0 to set up the rematch between the two teams that met September 13th at North Valley High School. Siuslaw came out on top 14-7 in that contest.

Wilson State XC Champ

The State has a new men’s 5,000 meter champion and it is Siuslaw senior Clayton Wilson.  Wilson finished the course in 15:37.8.  The Siuslaw boys finished third overall.  The Viking girls top finisher was Allison Hughes in 14th place.

College Football

The Oregon Ducks remain undefeated in College Football with a win on Saturday over Maryland at Autzen Stadium. Defeating the terrapins 39-18.  The OSU beavers lost their fourth straight against San Jose State falling 13-24.
