Golf Course Owners Plan Changes

The new owners of Florence Golf Links, Tara Bahl and Andrew Arredondo have contracted the Rees Jones Inc., the original course architect to provide input on upcoming improvements on the links. Jones is the son of “legendary” golf course designer Robert Jones and founded his own firm in 1974. Well known within the golf community he put Florence on the PGA map by choosing Florence as one of his first west coast designs. The course has been changed over the years and Jones’s team has agreed to consult on bringing it back in line with its original design. Jones served as the president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and has been a vocal champion for the cause of environmentally friendly golf courses. The new owners took over the course at the end of November and have said that painting the clubhouse and reopening the restaurant are in the course’s future, though the timetable is still being considered.  Florence Golf links pro Nick Remer will be a guest on the January edition of Our Town next week.
