Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate Siuslaw senior Wesley Nichols as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Wesley took first place in the 200 meter race at last week’s Central Coast Invitational with a time of 22.85 and a second place finish in the 100 meter race.
Honorable Mention
Honorable mention goes to Maya Wells. Maya took first place in the 800 meters race at last week’s Central Coast Invitational with a time of 2:30.41 seconds.
Softball
On the field today the Viking softball team will be at home to face Coquille. The team is hoping to improve their record in league play after Friday’s 17-7 win over Sutherlin. The Mapleton Sailor softball team will travel to Harrisburg for a game this afternoon.
Beavers Take Series
Wilson Weber hit two home runs and drove in four, while Wyatt Queen struck out seven over 6 1/3 innings as Oregon State beat Hawai’i 7-3 Monday night, taking the series 3-1. Carson McEntire went 3-for-3 with a homer and double, helping the Beavers improve to 35-12 on the season.
