Boys Take 3A State Title in Track and Field

The Siuslaw Vikings captured the 3A boys state track and field championship Friday at Hayward Field in dramatic fashion—winning the final event, the 4×400 relay, to edge out Burns by just one point, 89 to 88. The relay team of Raymundo Brito Xilot, Clayton Wilson, Kale Jensen, and Wesley Nicholls set a school record with a time of 3:22.43. Wilson also claimed individual titles in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters, while Jensen, Johnson, and others added critical points. On the girls’ side, junior Danin Lacouture won the shot put and Aidell Cadet scored in four events to lead the Lady Vikings to a ninth-place team finish.

Duck Baseball

Oregon’s baseball season ended Saturday with a 10-8 loss to Cal Poly at PK Park. The Ducks hit five home runs, including back-to-back shots in the seventh to take a three-run lead, but the Mustangs answered with five unanswered runs to advance in the Eugene Regional.

Beaver Baseball

The Oregon State Beavers scored 34 points over 2 games to keep their regional hopes alive.  The Beavers faced elimination yesterday first against St, Mary’s with a 20-3 win which saw Gavin Turley broke the RBI record with his historic 180th.  the Beavs got an hour break before they had to go up against the USC Trojans who had been cruise through regional action.  The beaver bats remained hot while their defense shut down the Trojans scoring 14 and allowing only one run. The two teams return to the field at 3pm today with a 2:30 pregame on KCFM.
