College World Series Bound
Oregon State is headed back to the Men’s College World Series after a 14-10 win over Florida State Sunday at Goss Stadium. The Beavers launched five home runs, including a grand slam from Trent Caraway and back-to-back shots by Canon Reeder and Carson McEntire in a seven-run first. OSU built a 13-3 lead before holding off a late FSU rally. Zach Kmatz earned the win in relief as OSU improved to 47-14-1. The Beavers set a single-game postseason record with five homers and topped 100 for the season. Bracket announcements will be made today.
Hall of Fame Inductee
The 1997 Siuslaw 4×400 relay team will be inducted into the Siuslaw High School Hall of Fame this August. The all-senior squad—Jon Jensen, Matt Pearson, Aaron Long, and David Richmond—clinched a share of the 3A state title with a school-record win at Hayward Field. Richmond, a 10-time state placer, also anchored a 1996 4×100 upset victory and set a school record in the 400 meters. The Hall of Fame ceremony takes place Friday, August 22 at 5 p.m. in the high school gym.
