Athlete of the Year
Last night at Siuslaw High School during a signing event for Siuslaw Athletes that will be participating in college Athletics the announcement was made for this year’s Sports Club and Coast Radio’s Athlete of the Year. For the girls it was Danin Lacouture who was state shot put champion and third place state wrestler, who finished her senior season with a 35-9 record and 33 pins. For the boys it was senior Clayton Wilson. Wilson, a transfer from Reedsport set several Siuslaw High School records this season and won state in the 1500 and 3000 m races and as part of the 4×400 relay.
Beavers to Face Louisville
The NCAA released the schedule for the College World Series and the Oregon State Beavers begin with a tough opponent. They will face Louisville in the first round on Friday beginning at 3:30 on KCFM. Louisville was 40 and 22 this season, but had trouble in its own conference only posting a 15/15 record. The Beavers will then face either Arizona or Coastal Carolina on Sunday.
