Short Term Rentals in Florence
The City of Florence is continuing work on short-term rental housing regulations. STRs are defined as residential units, or portions of them, rented for 30 days or less through platforms like Airbnb or VRBO. They differ from month-to-month rentals or units leased to traveling health care workers. Currently, the City requires STRs to obtain a business license, and accessory dwelling units are not permitted to be used as STRs. Over the past two years, city staff, committees, and the council have reviewed regulations, compared policies from other Oregon cities, and explored enforcement tools. On Monday, October 13th, 2025, the City of Florence will host a public open house at City Hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with a presentation beginning at 5:45. Residents will be able to learn about proposed STR regulations, how they fit into the City’s Housing Implementation Plan, and share feedback on balancing neighborhood livability with housing affordability.
