Sailor Girls Basketball
The Mapleton Sailor girls basketball team rolled past McKenzie with a dominant 70-21 victory. Lucie Burruss led all scorers with a monster night, pouring in 38 points to go along with 8 steals and 5 rebounds. Sophomore Kaylee Campbell added 8 points, 8 deflections, and 2 steals, marking her fifth game with at least 5 steals or deflections this season.
Sailor Boys Baskteball
On the boys side, the Mapleton Sailors earned a 58-34 win over the McKenzie Eagles. Mapleton set the tone early, holding McKenzie to just 4 first-quarter points and taking a 14-4 lead after one. The Sailors led 32-12 at halftime and maintained control throughout the second half. Sophomore Kam Wilson led the balanced scoring attack with 19 points as Mapleton improved to 2-0 in league play.
Ducks Lose to Michigan State
For the second time in four days, the Oregon men’s basketball team came up short against a top-10 opponent, falling to No. 10 Michigan State 68-52 at Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks led early in the second half but turnovers and missed free throws proved costly as the Spartans pulled away late. Takai Simpkins led Oregon with 15 points as the Ducks continue to play without injured starters Nate Bittle and Jackson Shelstad.
