Sailors Fall To Panthers
The Season ended for the Mapleton Sailors on Saturday as the girls’ basketball team faced Imbler. The lady Sailors fought valiantly against a more powerful team. Full court presses and good perimeter shooting by the Panthers stymied the aggressive Sailors. final score 63-35.
Seniors Hold Number 2 Spot in Wrestling
Danin Lacouture and Jacob Mann finished second in the state in wrestling on Friday. Mann was up against a 4-time state champion Brody Buzzard from Harrison. Lacouture was up against defending state champion Paisley Morrison.
College Basketball
Northwestern squeaked by the Oregon Ducks on Saturday wit a 63-62 victory. The Ducks fell after holding a double-digit lead in the second half. They face Illinois tomorrow and then finish off the regular season on Saturday.
The Oregon State Beavers ended regular season play against Santa Clara in a losing battle 93-72. The Lady Beaver lost to Loyola Marymount on Saturday 71-69 and the Lady Ducks fell to Washington 70-69 on Sunday.
College Baseball
Duck baseball went 2-1 over the weekend defeating Arizona on Friday, losing to UC Irvine 8-6 on Saturday and then beating Vanderbilt yesterday 6-4. The Beavers also went 2-1 with a win on Friday against Houston 2-1, a loss to Alabama on Saturday 8-7 and defeated Iowa on Sunday 4-3.
