Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports Congratulate senior Siuslaw track and field stand out Will Johnson as this week’s Athlete of the Week. At last week’s Siuslaw Icebreaker Johnson broke a 47 year old school record in the Triple Jump at 46 feet 4 inches. the third best distance on record in the state. Johnson also won the Pole Vault at 13 feet 4 inches.

Honorable Mention

Honorable Mention goes to Siuslaw hurler Zak Nilles who threw a 4 hit complete game giving up only one earned run and striking out 12 in the win against Harrisburg.

Siuslaw Baseball

Marshfield scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to edge Siuslaw 4-3 Monday in Coos Bay. The Vikings led early and were tied 3-3 late, finishing with 14 strikeouts while allowing just five hits. Jordan Pitcher had a strong outing for Siuslaw, both at the plate and on the mound. The Vikings, now 1-2, host Bandon for a doubleheader Wednesday at noon, with coverage on KCST for game two beginning at 1:45

Siuslaw Softball

The Siuslaw Vikings softball team picked up a win Monday, beating Bandon 9-7 in the first game of a doubleheader. A second game was played, but counted as a JV contest at Bandon’s request. Freshman Eden McCord led the Vikings, going 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, and a double, while a young Siuslaw lineup accounted for 10 of the team’s 13 hits. Siuslaw returns to action April 1st at Pleasant Hill.
