The Oregon Diamond Ducks posted a four-run shutout Friday evening in Goleta, California over UC Santa Barbara, but the Gauchos evened the series 8-2 Saturday evening. That set up the rubber match for Sunday afternoon where the Ducks came out on top 2-nothing to claim the series. The Ducks will be at home Tuesday evening for a nonleague contest against the University of Portland Pilots. Oregon opens a three game series on Good Friday in Ann Arbor against the Michigan Wolverines.
In Corvallis, Oregon State battled from behind Friday against the Mercer Bears, winning 7-5. Saturday was a close game for the first 4 ½ innings before the Beavers sprung six runs in the fifth, eight in the seventh, then added two more in the eighth for the 18-2 victory. Oregon State came out top Sunday afternoon 3-1 for the final game to claim a sweep of the 3-game series. The Beavs will host the Washington Huskies at Goss Stadium Tuesday evening then head for Beaumont, Texas for an Easter weekend series against Lamar that begins Thursday.
