Athlete of the Week
The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports Congratulate Viking Baseball’s Torelan DeSantis as this week’s Athlete of the Week. In last week’s series against Glide DeSantis led the team with a team high 6 hits and a .500 batting average with only one strike-out. while providing consistent coverage in the field.
Honorable mention goes to Viking softball’s Che Bruce who also batted .500 with 3 walks and 4 RBI’s, while pitching the teams best league game of the season despite the loss according to coach Amanda Richards.
All League Honors
Siuslaw is placing a pair of Vikings on the OSAA all-league baseball list this season. Coleman Weidman has been named first team all-league as a utility player, after seeing time at catcher, pitcher, infield and outfield. Weidman hit .447 in league play with 21 hits, including 9 doubles and 1 triple, driving in 15 runs and scoring 14. On the mound, he added 21 strikeouts over 15.1 innings in 7 appearances.
Also earning first team honors, Micah Blankenship was selected as an all-league outfielder, giving Siuslaw multiple top selections for the year.
