Track and Field
Siuslaw leads after day one of the Special District 1 track and field championships in Sutherlin. Both Viking teams are on top heading into today’s final day, with competition starting at 11 a.m. The boys have 40 points, while the girls lead with 56, ahead of Glide and La Pine. Five Vikings have qualified for state… Henry Stone won the 3,000 meters, Aidell Cadet took the high jump, Danin Lacouture won the shot put, and Will Johnson added a win in the pole vault at 14 feet, half an inch. Torelan DeSantis placed 4th in that event. More state berths will be decided today as the meet wraps up this afternoon.
Also today, Mapleton High School will compete in the 1A district championships.
Duck Baseball
Tonight the Oregon Ducks will Face the Washington Huskies in Big10 action. The game will be on a neutral field from Omaha Nebraska. First pitch is at 7pm.
