Wildfire Smoke Info
LRAPA is encouraging Lane County residents to get ready for wildfire smoke as part of Wildfire Smoke Ready Week, running June 1st through the 5th. With outdoor burning now closed and fire season approaching, officials say preparation now can help protect your health later. Public Affairs Manager Matt Sorensen says wildfire smoke has become part of Oregon summers, making early planning especially important for children and people with breathing issues. The agency’s SMOKE Ready framework includes staying informed on air quality, minimizing exposure with HEPA filters, keeping windows closed, stocking supplies like medications and masks, and setting up a clean room in your home. More information is available at fire.airnow.gov.
Road Closure
Big Creek Road north of Florence is now closed between mileposts 9 and 12.5 for culvert replacement. The full closure runs from June 2 through December 31. There are no alternate routes in the area, so drivers are advised to plan ahead.
