Grace Montes Moving Up in Baseball Ranks
Former Siuslaw softball standout Nina-Grace Montes is continuing her rise in professional sports. The 2020 Siuslaw graduate is now Director of Community Relations for the Ontario Tower Buzzers, the Low-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Montes previously worked with the Eugene Emeralds and recently earned a master’s degree from Arizona State while helping launch Ontario’s new sports complex and baseball franchise.
Series Win, Sunday Loss
The Eugene Emeralds’ 3-game winning streak came to an end Sunday with a 12-2 loss to the Hillsboro Hops. Hillsboro scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning and never looked back. Walker Martin provided the offense for Eugene with his 12th home run of the season. Despite the loss, the Ems claimed their first series victory since late May.
