Mapleton Names New Basketball Coach
Mapleton has named a new boys basketball coach, and it’s a familiar face. Superintendent and Principal Dr. Sue Wilson will take over the Sailors program, succeeding longtime coach Eric Wolgamott. Wilson brings previous coaching experience from Moon Valley High School in Glendale, Arizona, where she taught math, physics, and engineering. She later moved to Oregon and joined Eugene School District 4J in an administrative role before coming to Mapleton. Wilson is an Oregon State University graduate and recently earned her doctorate from the University of Oregon. She inherits a Sailors team that returns nearly its entire roster from last season.
Ems Outslug AquaSox
The Eugene Emeralds outslugged Everett Tuesday night, beating the AquaSox 13-8 in a game that featured 21 runs and 29 hits. Isaiah Barkett led the way with 3 hits, including his first homer of the season, while Walker Martin and Zander Darby also went deep. Eugene collected 13 runs on 16 hits and improved to 13-12 in the second half.
