Tri-City Comeback
The Eugene Emeralds missed a chance to gain ground in the Northwest League standings Sunday, falling to the Tri-City Dust Devils 6-3. Zander Darby homered and the Ems briefly took a 3-2 lead in the fourth, but Tri-City scored four unanswered runs to force a series split. Eugene heads to Spokane one game out of first place in the second-half standings.
Lady Vikings Soccer
The Siuslaw Lady Vikings have added a tough nonleague test to their fall soccer schedule. Siuslaw will travel to Portland on September 11th to face Oregon Episcopal School, the Aardvarks, who reached the 3A state semifinals last season. The Vikings open the season August 31st at Pleasant Hill. First official practice begins in two weeks.
OSAA Policy Updates
The Oregon School Activities Association is updating safety policies for student-athletes. At its annual meeting in Redmond, the OSAA Executive Board approved changes to concussion return-to-sport procedures and air quality guidelines based on guidance from the Oregon Health Authority. The board also adopted the 2026-27 OSAA Handbook and Athletic Officials Handbook.
