Ems Take Lead in Series
The Eugene Emeralds beat Spokane 5-1 Wednesday night, taking the first two games of the series. Walker Martin homered twice and drove in three runs, while Lisbel Diaz and Jhonny Level also went deep. Jacob Bresnahan tossed six scoreless innings as the Ems improved to 21-17 and remained in the Northwest League playoff race.
Preseason Football Camps
Ducks
Preseason camp is underway for the Oregon Ducks as they begin their push for a third straight College Football Playoff appearance. Practice moved indoors Wednesday because of wildfire smoke. Head coach Dan Lanning said players showed strong effort and preparation on day one, while challenging veterans to step up and lead throughout fall camp.
Beavers
Oregon State opened fall camp Wednesday with first-year head coach JaMarcus Shephard emphasizing a process-over-results approach. Shephard said building the program starts with culture, accountability and attention to small details, from team bonding traditions to everyday discipline. He praised the defense and quarterback play on day one but said camp evaluations will be driven by data and consistency. Shephard said his goal is to build a lasting foundation, adding, “This was the foundation.”
