Ems Win Third Straight
The Eugene Emeralds outlasted Spokane 15-10 in 10 innings Thursday night in the longest Northwest League game of the season at 3 hours, 41 minutes. Lisbel Diaz led the way with five hits, while Hayden Jatczak drove in three runs. Eugene has won three straight, improves to 22-17, and remains alone in first place in the second half standings.
Duck Practice
Oregon Ducks football continued preseason camp Thursday with a second straight practice inside the Moshofsky Center due to wildfire smoke. Defensive coordinator Chris Hampton says the secondary has impressed him with its chemistry despite competition for playing time. Hampton says the Ducks are still evaluating which defensive schemes best fit their personnel. If smoke conditions improve, Oregon could practice outside today and put on shoulder pads for the first time this preseason.
