Ems Drop Another; 2 Ducks Hopeful for Thorpe Award

Ems Drop Another

The Eugene Emeralds dropped their second straight to Hillsboro Wednesday night, falling 5-3 to the Hops. Eugene built a 3-0 lead in the fifth on RBI doubles from Zane Zielinski and Zander Darby, but Hillsboro answered with two homers and never looked back. The Ems are now 23-20 in the second half.

2 Ducks Hopeful for Thorpe Award

Two Oregon defensive backs are receiving preseason national recognition. Brandon Finney Jr. and Koi Perich are among 35 players named to the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award watch list, honoring the nation’s top defensive back. Finney led Oregon with three interceptions and eight pass breakups as a freshman last season. Perich transferred to Oregon after earning second-team All-Big Ten honors at Minnesota. Oregon opens the season September 5 against Boise State at Autzen Stadium.
