Ems Drop Tight Battle
The Eugene Emeralds dropped a wild 12-10 decision to Everett Thursday night after Carlos Jimenez hit a three-run walk-off homer in the ninth. Cam Maldonado blasted three home runs for the Ems, while Kaeden Kent went 4-for-5 with two homers in the loss. Everett leads the series two games to one with nine regular season games remaining.

Siuslaw boys soccer opens its season Wednesday with a 5 p.m. Endowment Game against Pacific at Hans Petersen Memorial Field. The Vikings are still building their roster, with junior Mason Wright the lone returning player listed. Meanwhile, the team’s scheduled jamboree at Marshfield was canceled ahead of the season opener.
