Athlete of the Week

The Sports Club and Coast Radio Sports congratulate junior McKenzie Ulrich as this week’s Athlete of the Week. Ulrich recorded a team and career-high nine kills while posting an impressive .525 hitting efficiency with just one error in 15 attempts against North Bend. She also remains perfect from the service line this season and brings infectious energy and positivity to the Lady Vikings with every point.

Honorable Mention

Maren Hughes earns Honorable Mention after a standout effort against Newport. Hughes paced the Vikings with 8 kills and just 1 hitting error, finishing with a .500 hitting percentage on 14 attempts. Her aggressive play at the net, including effective attacks from the 10-foot line, was complemented by a team-leading 2 blocks.

Emeralds Face Canadians

The Eugene Emeralds open their quest for a Northwest League title tonight, taking on the Vancouver Canadians in Game One of the Northwest League Championship Series. First pitch is set for 7:05. The best-of-five series begins in Vancouver with Games One and Two before moving to Eugene, where the final three games, if necessary, will be played. The team that wins three games will claim the Northwest League championship.

Cross Country This Weekend

This Friday and Saturday the Siuslaw Cross Country team will participate in the Ash Creek Invitational.  the teams consist of 9 boys and 8 girls.  the run will be at Western Oregon University with varsity meets on Saturday morning.
