Viking Volleyball

Siuslaw volleyball fell in straight sets at Illinois Valley, 25-18, 26-24 and 25-20. The Vikings drop to 1-and-2 in Far West League play and 2-and-5 overall. Stella Duman led Siuslaw with 13 kills, three aces and seven digs, while Chloe Clark added 12 digs. Coach McKenzie Perry said the team lacked intensity and aggressive play. Siuslaw returns home Thursday to face St. Mary’s of Medford at 6 p.m.

Viking Soccer

Siuslaw boys soccer fell to Illinois Valley Tuesday, 9-to-1, dropping the Vikings to 1-and-2 in district play and 1-and-3 overall. Mason Wright scored Siuslaw’s lone goal on a first-half penalty kick. The young Vikings’ roster is now up to 10 players with the addition of junior defender-forward Darwin Mero Quezada. Siuslaw is back on the road Thursday for a 4 p.m. match at St. Mary’s in Medford.

Mapleton Volleyball

Mapleton volleyball defeated Siletz Valley last night in straight sets giving the sailors their first win in league play.
