Lady Vikings Soccer Scores Win
Siuslaw girl’s soccer picked up a league road win Thursday, blanking Douglas 2-0 in Winston. Junior goalkeeper Makaia Snider recorded 13 saves for the shutout. Mia Goss broke the scoreless tie with a second-half penalty kick, and Hailey Taylor added an insurance goal off an assist from Willa Harklerode. The Lady Vikings improved to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in league play. Siuslaw travels to Coquille Tuesday before returning home October 10th to face Sutherlin.
Siuslaw Volleyball
League-leading Coquille handed Siuslaw a Far West League volleyball loss Thursday night, but the Lady Vikings showed continued improvement in a competitive three-set match. Siuslaw fell 25-18, 25-17, and 25-23, with coach McKenzie Perry saying the team looked much better than in its earlier meeting with the Red Devils. Stella Duman led the Vikings with 4 kills, 14 digs, and 4 blocks. Siuslaw drops to 2-11 overall and 1-7 in league play, with road and home matches next week against Douglas and Illinois Valley.
Viking Football
Viking Football will host Douglas this evening under the lights. both teams come into league play at 4-1. it is also Homecoming. Coach Sam Johnson says if it were up to him they would have homecoming on a bye week to avoid the distraction. Johnson also said that with 17 new players on the roster there have been a lot of penalties, but he says he thinks they have worked out a lot of the issues.
“We fixed a lot of this week, the little nuances of how we need to do stuff. so I feel good that we should be clean this Friday night.”

College Football
The Oregon State Beavers travel to Ft. Collins, Colorado for a game against the Rams of Colorado State. the teams have 2 wins each coming into tomorrow’s game. pregame on KCFM will be at 2pm with a 3pm kickoff. the Oregon duck have a bye this week.
The Vikings dropped a tough one Thursday, falling to Coquille 10-1 at Hans Petersen Field. After the Red Devils scored three early goals, Siuslaw settled in and generated more offensive pressure, creating several scoring opportunities and finding the net once. The Vikings now look ahead to a weekend of rest before returning to action next week.
