The Florence City Council will cover a lot of ground this evening when they meet for their only business session of the month.
The culmination of 14 months work on an all-new animal control ordinance is one of the items on the agenda. Current regulations allow dogs off leash in the city, as long as they’re under the supervision of their owners. Prompted by complaints in June 2010, the new code requires dogs to remain on their leashes at all times. It also prohibits certain species of livestock, unless specifically permitted for a special occasion or use.
The council will also consider two public works projects. They’re expected to award bids for the final section of the Spruce Street Relief Stormwater project and the Highway 101 water line extension.
The council will also hear a report on helicopter operations at the Florence Municipal Airport. The update was prompted by the receipt of noise complaints at city hall. The council meets at Florence City Hall, seven pm.
