SEATTLE (AP) – The U.S. Attorney in Seattle says a Corvallis,
Ore., man has been charged with trying to illegally export military
grade rifle scope. U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan says Geoffrey Roose
offered to sell the scopes on eBay. Durkan said an undercover agent
offered to purchase one and asked that it be shipped to Europe and
Durkan agreed. It was not immediately known whether Roose had a
lawyer.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Voters in Josephine County have voted
to recall Commissioner Sandi Cassanelli by a wide margin. The Daily
Courier reports that unofficial results from yesterday’s special
election show 71 percent voted to remove Cassanelli. Recall
organizers accused Cassanelli of hindering economic development and
not supporting public safety.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Authorities are trying to determine
whether a shark bit a surfer yesterday at Seaside. The woman was
bitten on the leg and her surfboard was damaged. Rescue workers say
here injuries were not life-threatening. Witnesses told KGW-TV that
the woman was brought to shore by another surfer and taken to a
hospital in an ambulance.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have no plans to further
investigate a car accident involving Detroit Lions defensive tackle
Ndamukong Suh (ehn-DAHM’-uh-kehn soo) after two women claimed they
suffered injuries in the wreck. The two unidentified women came
forward a day after the early Saturday morning accident to say they
had been injured.
