REDMOND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say six people were hurt – at least two seriously – in a head-on crash on Highway 126 west of Redmond. KTVZ-TV says a Toyota Corolla occupied by four people crossed the center line and struck an SUV yesterday. One person from each car was flown by helicopter to a Bend hospital. The crash closed the highway for hours.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police are looking for a possible witness to an officer-involved shooting in Salem. Detectives say a man reportedly entered a Subway restaurant after the shooting of Dusty Epps on April 23 and mentioned having observed it. The man, in his mid-20s, was driving a black car believed to be a Subaru Impreza WRX, but it’s unclear who he was.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Salem authorities say a man who heard a prowler grabbed a rifle to investigate accidentally shot himself in the jaw. The sheriff’s office says 71-year-old Frank Moore is expected to survive. Moore told deputies he was awakened by someone moving outside his recreational vehicle early yesterday. He said he took a .22-caliber rifle out into the dark and tripped.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The state House has passed a bill requiring overtime pay, meal breaks and other labor protections for housekeepers, nannies and caregivers. The House advanced the bill to the Senate yesterday. Advocates say the legislation is needed to protect the largely female, immigrant workforce from abuses. Opponents said the bill is too broad and unclear.
