PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon National Guard will be showing off four new drones that are based at the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport in Pendleton. The guard is holding a press conference today at the airport, where it will fly the unmanned aircraft for the first time in civilian airspace. The drones have a wingspan of 14 feet and are equipped with two cameras.

McMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A small jet airplane has run off the end of the runway at the McMinnville Municipal Airport. Fire Department Division Chief Debbie McDermott says the Evergreen International Aviation, Inc., Lear jet was unable to stop and ended up in a ditch at the end of the runway yesterday afternoon. She says all three people aboard were able to get out unhurt.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Legislature is nearing a vote on extending a tax on hospitals and nursing homes. The $800 million tax provides a big chunk of the funding for the Oregon Health Plan, the state’s Medicaid program for low-income Oregonians. The House is set to vote today and the Senate could follow next week. The federal government matches the tax dollars collected.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – A federal agency says one of the nation’s largest onion farms will pay $150,000 to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says a worker at River Point Farms faced verbal abuse from her male supervisor from 2005 to 2010. Officials say the harassment included requests for sexual favors.
