EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Eugene police say they continue to investigate the death of a 4-month-old baby who was killed a year ago. A medical examiner ruled the boy’s death a homicide. Police had not previously revealed that the boy died until the Register-Guard recently inquired, but no arrests have been made.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The family of a man shot to death by Salem police last year is suing the city and two police officers for wrongful death. The Statesman Journal reports that the lawsuit was filed in federal court last month on behalf of Chase Hammer’s estate. A grand jury in December cleared a Salem police officer in the fatal shooting and found that the 26-year-old Hammer ignored police orders to stop and show his hand on Oct. 21, 2012.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The mother of a longtime employee killed by a cougar this weekend at a suburban Portland animal sanctuary says she had expressed concerns about safety measures at the facility. Renee Radziwon of Portland was killed Saturday while cleaning a cougar enclosure at WildCat Haven in Sherwood. Carol Radziwon told the Associated Press that her daughter was alone when she was attacked.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Rental car customers at Portland International Airport could pay a facilities fee of up to $7 a day for a maximum of four days under a proposal the Port of Portland is considering. Spokesman Steve Johnson at the Port of Portland says the proceeds would be dedicated to projects related to vehicle rentals. The port’s commission could approve the fee as early as Dec. 11.
