PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Washington County has approved a food-composting program to collect up to 1,000 tons of food scraps from businesses. PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The family of a 3-year-old girl has filed a multi-million lawsuit against the owners and managers of a suburban Portland apartment complex, alleging they failed to protect the child from a sexually abusive boy. The lawsuit says the on-site manager in Canby didn’t alert residents that the boy had previously peeped into a girl’s bedroom. Attorney Kristian Roggendorf says the boy is older than 10.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) – A national panel of judicial and law enforcement experts has released recommendations on how to make tribal communities safer. The Indian Law and Order Commission report recommends giving tribes more control over crimes on their land. The report was released ahead of today’s White House Tribal Nations Conference in Washington, D.C.

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) – The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville will remain open despite the announcement last week that the Evergreen air cargo business will shut down by month’s end. The McMinnville News-Register reports the museum is part of a complex that draws 150,000 visitors a year to such attractions as Howard Hughes’ Spruce Goose, a Titan missile and a water park.
